The Rotary club of Dauphin announced today on the 11th anniversary of 9-11 that it was making a three thousand dollar donation to Shelter Box Canada in honour of Rotary District 5550 Governor Rick Hubbs' visit to Dauphin.

This donation will be matched by the Government of Canada and will be used to provide quality emergency shelter for families displaced by natural disasters and sectarian violence in Africa.

Shelter boxes contain a 10 person, high quality weather resistant tent, a simple stove that will use many different liquid fuels, cooking utensils, dishes and cutlery, space age blankets, an axe,  shovel and a saw. All of this in a reusable water proof vinyl container that can easily be stacked on a transport plane or truck and then carried by two people when it arrives at its destination.

In addition to this international donation, the Rotary club was pleased to share with District Governor Hubbs some of the various projects we have supported in this area. These include the recreation complex, Countryfest Community Cinema, Habitat for Humanity, the Vermillion Park walking trail, the new Splash Park and the Skate Park soon to be constructed. These supportive donations help to ensure that the Rotary Club of Dauphin meets Rotary world priorities of healthy living, quality housing, education and peace both at home and around the world.
